In-Person vs Online Lessons,
What is the better choice?

The improvement of the student depends mostly on him. In-person lessons can be more interactive which may allow the student to learn more easily. However, online lessons can be more cost effective and convenient to students who do not have access to chess environments next to their homes.

What should the student bring?

The student should bring a notebook, pen, completed h.w, and their games to the lesson. I provide the chessboard and other material. If the student has access to a laptop, they should bring that also.

At what age should you start to learn?

Ideally, the student will start at a young age. I began to learn chess when I was 5 years old. Some might start earlier or later depending on their personality. If the parent is unsure if it is the right time for their child to start the lesson,  I would recommend to schedule a trial lesson.

If the student did not start earlier they should not get discouraged. Many start later in life to improve their memory and brain function. The benefits of chess have been seen in all ages.

What are the Lesson Fees?

Lesson fees vary based on the age, level, setting, and other elements. They are posted under the lecture fees page. Please contact me for additional fee details.

Can you travel to the student's home?

Yes, I can. I live in St. Louis, Missouri and can travel to a reasonable distance. Minor travel charges may apply.

What ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and levels. This includes students kindergarten all the way up to retired personnel.

HoW payments are made?

I accept cash and checks. For online lessons payments are securely made using major credit cards, PayPal or Venmo.

How much should i expect to improve?

This is a difficult question to answer. It all depends on how much time and effort the parents and students are willing to invest.
However, if the student completely follows my program and recommendations he will see an improvement of at least 200 rating points per year.
